2000 Patients to Undergo Surgical Operation Under Senator Hunkuyi Free Medical Outreach

Over 2000 people from Kaduna North Senatorial District are to undergo surgical operation under the platform of Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi Free Medical Outreach which is ongoing at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria.

Senator Hunkuyi who is the Chairman Senate Committee on National Population and National Identity as well as Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs said the need to continue with the second phase of his medical outreach programme was because of his desire to touch the lives of his constituents positively.

Hunkuyi represents Kaduna North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate. The zone consists of Zaria, Sabon Gari, Kudan, Markafi, Kubau, Ikara, Soba and Lere Local Government Areas of Kaduan State.

The exercise for the free surgical surgery which consists of eye surgery and general surgery (appendicitis, hernia, hydrocele, fibroid, lipoma etc) is taking place at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria and Saidu Dange Railway Hospital,Zaria.

Hunkuyi said he is embarking on this medical project in collaboration with the National Eye Centre, Kaduna.

According to him, surgery, consultation, eye glasses, drugs, transportation are free of charge for the patients.

The exercise continues simultaneously in the two hospitals from Saturday 26th to Tuesday 29th January 2019.

Hunkuyi had embarked on medical outreach programme since November 2016. The first phase of the free eye surgery and general surgery was flagged off on 29th November 2016. About 1000 patents had surgical operation. Apart from surgery, which involved about 100 doctors and other medical experts, over 15,000 others were beneficiaries of the medical outreach. This include the treatment of people with different kinds of ailments.

Other Hunkuyi constituency projects include building of solar powered boreholes; provision of electricity transformers; building of market complexes and town halls; scholarship to students; construction of drainages; provisions of motor cycles and sewing machines among others.
