Benue: As PDP’s Ortom Leads, INEC Declares Election Inclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday declared as inconclusive Saturday’s governorship election held in Benue State.

in the result declared by INEC, Samuel Ortom the incumbent governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party scored 410,576 votes while Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress got 329,022 votes.

The Returning Officer, Prof Sebastian Maimako, announced that the number of canceled votes outweighed the number of victory margin.

According to the result, 790,102 votes were valid, 14,560 votes were rejected while 121,019 votes were cancelled.

According to him, new date for re-run will be announced soon.
