Buni Gari ,the home town of All Progressive Congress National Secretary and Yobe State Gubernatorial Candidate for 2019 governorship election, Mai Mala Buni, has again come under attack by the suspected Boko Haram Insurgents.
Sources said gunmen came to the town in a convoy of trucks and started shooting sporadically while houses were also being set ablaze, the situation that made the residents to flee for safety last night.
The town located less than 4 kilometres to the 27 taskforce brigade, and about 53 kilometres to Damaturu, the state capital, witnessed attacks by the insurgents less than 30 days.
According to sources, it may be reprisal attack over the killing of two insurgents by a hunters’ group in the town.
A source revealed that ten days ago, four insurgents went to the town to forcefully take away a woman they claimed to be their wife when the hunters’ group intercepted them.
The woman was married to a resident, so the hunter resisted; they killed two, caught and handed over one to military, while the other one escaped. The incident happened 20 days after the insurgents attacked and killed 8 soldiers at the military base,” he said.
