The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on investigation of Real Estate Developers in FCT, Abuja, today held public hearing on the alleged sharp practices and fraud in the sector.
Individuals, groups and various agencies of government were invited to make their submissions during the public hearing.
Chairman of the Ad-hoc committee, Hon. Blessing Onuh said the purpose of the public hearing is to bring about peace, harmony and transparency in the sector.
He said those with criminal related issues will be referred to the appropriate quarters.
The committee had earlier called for submission of memoranda and invited all stakeholders in the real estate sector, government agencies, investors, home-buyers and the general public to a one -day public hearing on the investigation.

Following complaints and petitions, the House of Representatives in its resolution mandated the ad hoc committee to investigate the operations of developers in the FCT and liaise with stakeholders to create legislation to sanitise the sector and curb sharp practices.

Several persons complained that estate developers take money from subscribers without providing houses based on the agreement and promise.
