The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives have called on the leadership of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to reconsider its decision suspending Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and other members over the emergence of minority principal officers.
Addressing journalists on Monday at the National Assembly, Abuja the group called on the National Working Committee of PDP to rescind its decision in suspending the Minority Leader, Elumelu and 6 others.
The press conference addressed by the caucus led by Hon. Legor Idagbo [Cross River State) passed a vote of confidence on the newly constituted minority leadership in the House of Representatives as well as vote of confidence on the Speaker, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
“Our decision to constitute the minority leadership of the 9th House of Representatives is in consonance with the House Standing Order 7 Rule 8 which is a derivative of Section 60 of the 1999 Constitution.
“We stand by our decision, we stand by our leaders,” the statement said.
The caucus said the members of the opposition party,PDP in the House of Representatives are ready to work with party leadership in order to takeover power from the ruling APC in 2023 hence the need to put their house in order now.
