Hon. (Dr.) Makki Abubakar Yalleman, representing Kaugama/Mallam Madori Federal Constituency of Jigawa State has expressed optimism over the leadership of the 10th House of Representatives.
Yalleman said with the emergence of Dr. Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives in a rancour free election, the constitution of 7 ad hoc committees and other recent events, he is of the view that the 10th House of Representatives will be the best in the history of Nigerian Parliament.
Speaking to THE LEGISLATURE, thelegislatureng.com in an interview Yalleman who was the Deputy Chairman, House Committees on Defence in the previous Assembly as well as one of the aspirants for the office of the Speaker but later stepped down for Abbas said he is confident that the House under Abbas will be dynamic.
“You have seen how Dr. Tajudeen Abbas emerged as Speaker of the House of Representatives in a rancour free election despite various members from different political parties.
“I have the confidence that the 10th House of Representatives will be dynamic and best in the history of Nigerian Parliament.
“Yes, we have some ranking members and a lot of new members, but you can see many members from different political parties.
“Seven ad hoc committees were constituted to ensure smooth running of the House pending the constitution of standing committees. The principal officers have also emerged. I believe we are on track
He said the lawmakers will do what is within their constitutional power to address the numerous challenges facing the country.
