Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi, Chairman Senate Committee on National Population and National Identity
has emerged as the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for Kaduna North Senatorial District.
Hunkuyi who is also the Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs got 158 votes to emerge as the winner of the primary election which took place in PDP zonal office in Zaria.
Other aspirants who participated in the senatorial primary election include Jafar Mohammed who got 90 votes and Bilkisu Soba who garnered 74 votes.
Senator Hunkuyi had earlier participated in the PDP governorship primary in Kaduna where he came second. However, his permission to participate in the PDP senatorial primary in Kaduna North may not be unconnected to internal arrangement of PDP leaders to compensate him for his efforts in reviving PDP in the state.
