Why I Dumped APC, PDP for NNPP – Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi

PDP has little to offer

…APC has nothing to offer except misery, hunger, insecurity

…Within one week of launching NNPP over 250,000 registered with the party in Kaduna

Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi in an interview with Obute James explained why he dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP. Senator Hunkuyi represented Kaduna North Senatorial District in the 8th Senate, he was the Chairman, Senate Committee on National Identity and National Population and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs. Hunkuyi, a grassroots politician was a governorship aspirant and candidate in previous elections in Kaduna State.

What is NNPP all about?

NNPP is a political party that has been in existence in Nigeria over the years. But of course the political situation today in Nigeria has brought about the rebirth of the NNPP since it is an old party. The circumstance of the moment brought NNPP back.

Definitely, what has brought it into life are forces from different dimensions and from different directions and you know most of them. These are social, economic and political in nature.

We started with the movement some months ago to enlighten Nigerians and today we have NNPP.

What is the membership strength and membership drive of NNPP?

You may be surprised to hear that in less than a week of launching NNPP in Kaduna, over 250,000 people in the state have registered with the party. After exhausting the initial 250,000 cards, the second batch of 250,000 membership cards as I talk to you has almost been exhausted by our people from Kaduna State. The same thing is on-going in other states of the federation. This is to tell you Nigerians are tired of what they are passing through under the current government of APC.

Ward congress, Local Government Congress, State Congress and National convention of this party will all take place before next month, April 2022. This is in line with the Electoral Act and Independent National Electoral Commission guidelines for the next general election.

What are the chances of NNPP in 2023?

With what we have seen so far, the chance of NNPP in the 2023 is very bright. Nigerians are the ones to decide their own future. Whether they want to remain in the condition they are now or not.

You are one of the pioneer founders of PDP and APC but today you decided to align with NNPP

I decided to dump these parties because they have derailed from the original purpose of forming them. The Peoples Democratic Party has little to offer to Nigerians as it is today. The All Progressives Congress, APC has nothing to offer except misery, hunger and insecurity.

My advice to Nigerians is that they should not lose confidence in the system rather they should obtain their PVC and be ready to vote and defend their votes in the next general election.
