The representative of Epe Federal Constituency of Lagos State and Chairman, Committee on House Services, Hon. Raji Wale has called for full support of Tokunbo Abiru for the Lagos East Senatorial District Election.
Abiru is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Lagos East Senatorial District by-election slated for October.
Recall that the senatorial district has been left without a representative at the upper legislative chamber following the death of Bayo Osinowo in June.
Speaking when he accompanied Abiru to pay homage to the league of reputable monarchs in Lagos and Ijebu, Raji described Abiru as a good product that will deliver the expected results in governance.
He said “First, I want to thank the leadership of our party and all the members in the Lagos East Senatorial District for the choice of Tokunbo Abiru. If you are familiar with his pedigree, he is somebody that is highly qualified and he is coming into the senatorial race with a lot of experience. I know that with his wealth of experience, with his training as an Economist, Banker and successes recorded in his career, at First Bank and also at Polaris Bank, and his previous public service experience as Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State, I am sure he is coming into the Senate with a rich pedigree and this will have impacts on his performance.
Raji, however, opined that Abiru, if eventually elected, will need to learn the ropes in the area of law-making and legislature Intrigues and politics.
“As a ranking member of the House of Reps., my advise is that he will still need to spend time to learn the nitty-gritty of legislation particularly in parliamentary politics. I know him to be a very brilliant person and a fast learner. So, definitely, it won’t take him time to adapt to the new environment. So, I wish him success.”
On what is in Abiru victory for people of Epe, he said they include the establishment of industries and businesses that will provide jobs for the teeming youths in Lagos East, Hon. Wale Raji said: “Just like you know Legislators are influencers, we are not in the executive and definitely with his clout, experience and working together with the five of us in the House of Reps, definitely we will work together to impact positively on the economy in the East senatorial districts industrial development and economic well being of the people.
“I want to let the electorates know that they can not have a better choice. Abiru is a good product, he is sellable. We are already selling him and I am sure that he will be generally accepted by the people.”
