The Senate Committee on Interior on Tuesday stepped down the budget defence of the Ministry of Interior over reported violence in the country.
The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aragbesola and some of the heads of the para-military agencies under the ministry appeared before the Senate Committee on Interior for the 2021 budget defence.
However, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Kashim Shettima had a brief meeting with the heads of MDAs under his committee supervision and told them to go and attend to the security challenges across the nation.
Shettima while speaking with journalists shortly after the brief meeting with the heads of MDAs justified his action on the ground that “we cannot keep them here for too long while the country is facing security challenge at the moment,” he said.
Recall that the hoodlums had attacked NYSC orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja on Tuesday. Some miscreants also searching for warehouse of COVID-19 palliatives blocked Abuja-Kaduna Road at Madalla (boundary between Niger and FCT, Abuja). They were however, dispersed by the intervention of the Nigerian army.
