The representative of Kogi West Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Dino Melaye, has finally submitted himself to the police by meeting with the outgoing Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris on Friday.
Melaye has been avoiding arrest by the police for about eight days when the security operatives stormed his Abuja house in an attempt to arrest him over allegation that thugs loyal to him shot one Sgt Aliyu.
Melaye’s attempt to get court order to prevent police from arresting him and leave his house failed as the vacating high court judge refused to grant his request and adjourned the case to January 14 for accelerated hearing.
The embattled Senator and his colleagues, who came to his residence to show solitary, went to the police headquarters apparently to resolve his issues with the Force.
