Hon. Umar Jega Denies Dumping APC for another Party


A member representing Aliero/Gwandu/Jega Federal Constituency of Kebbi State has dismissed allegation in some quarters that he has dumped the ruling All Progressive Congress to another party.

Hon. Jega who is the Chairman, House Committee on Internally Displaced Persons, Migrants and Refugees in a statement on Friday said “I’m a Bonafide Member of the All Progressive Congress.”

The brief statement from Hon. Muhammad Umar Jega on Friday 10th June, 2022 read below:


“This is to clarify that I have not decamped from APC. I won the Aliero/Gwandu/Jega Federal Constituency APC Primary Election for 2023 general election.

“I will contest the parliamentary election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress.

“All stories/allegations that suggested I have decamped from the APC to another party are unfounded and did not emanate from me.

“I cannot disappoint my people and delegates who voted for me during the primary election.

“I want to assure my people and supporters, that we are still in APC.

It will be recalled that criss erupted in the Kebbi State APC after the Primary Election leading to the decamping of the Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North, from APC to the opposition PDP.

The former governor of the stste, Senator Adamu Aliero has also defected from APC to PDP..

However, Hon. Umar Jega said he has not dumped the party and has no intention of defecting to any political party.
