Senate, House of Reps Suspend Plenary to Honour Late Lawmaker

The Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives have suspended sitting over the death of a a lawmaker, Funke Adedoyin. Funke Adedoyin, a representative from Kwara State, died on Friday afternoon in Abuja at the age of 56. Razak Atunwa also from Kwara State said Ms Adedoyin died of cancer. The two chambers chamber adjourned shortly after they resumed from annual recess which lasted for ten weeks. The National Assembly embarked on its annual recess on July 24 amidst controversies of defection and preparation for party primaries. It was scheduled to resume on September 25 but was postponed to October 9. The upper house went into an executive session shortly after the opening prayer led by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
